Our History
From 1995-1996, a group of people from the Lucie-Bruneau
Rehabilitation Center and the Quebec Paraplegic Association
founded Viomax. The goal was to offer people with physical
disabilities, physical activities that were easily accessible
after their rehabilitation in order to allow them to
take charge of their physical condition and therefore
improve their quality of life. Thanks to the collaboration
of 2 founders Viomax was not only able to come to life
but also was able to progress steadily. A study carried
out by the Quebec Parapelegic Association found that
Viomax was the only organization offering these services
in the Greater Montreal region.
In 1997, Viomax was officially recognized as a non-profit
organization when it received its letters patent and
registration number as a charity organization. Viomax
gradually acquired all the necessary tools to ensure
its long-term progression complete with a board of directors,
general rules, charity organization status, efficient
management mechanism, stable staff, support from other
organizations which deal with issues related to disabled
people, etc.
Over the years we have developed a variety of services
that are now offered to our members. Our programs include
physical activities in our gymnasium, the pool, weight
room and field sports. Since then, the organization
has continued to grow in order to respond to the needs
of our clients.
In 2000, Viomax integrated an activity for disabled
children between the ages of 6 and 12 into its program,
followed by a program for adolescents in 2003.
Viomax aims to offer clients a program consisting
of a broad range of adapted physical activities, allowing
people living with disabilities to choose the activity
that interests them most according to taste and interests.
Keeping in shape and ensuring one's health by taking
part in an activity that responds to our needs and tastes
is always more pleasant and easy!
